Hello!
Welcome to Phil Lee's web site. In it you will find various information and many photos
on Alaska, climbing, mountaineering, hiking and eventually other interests
of mine. It is continually being revised as time permits. For those who visit
this page, I hope you find it useful or informative.
The Denali (McKinley) photos are from a '98 May/June ascent of the West Buttress Route and some from a high camp on the West Rib Variation from 16.2K. The Sultana (Foraker) photos are from a May 1997 ascent of the Northeast/Sultana Ridge Variation. If you plan on climbing Denali or Mt. Foraker, keep in mind that climbing either of these mountains requires that all expedition members must register with the Talkeetna Ranger Station 60 days prior to the date you plan to climb. For more information, you may want to visit the National Park Service's (NPS) General Mountaineering Page. There is a registration fee. You can print a registration form at the NPS Registration Page.
For those interested in alaska adventure, the Iditarod, and dog mushing, check out Lisa Frederic's new book, " Running with Champions: A Midlife Journey on the Iditarod Trail ".

"You cannot stay on the summit forever; you
have to come down again… so why bother in the first place? Just this:
what is above knows what is below, but what is below does not now what
is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but
one has seen. There is an art to conducting oneself in the lower regions
by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one
can still at least know."

"Trust
in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths."
